Give and you will Receive

One of the Bible verses we have all read is Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you… a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap.”
Many people understand this verse as referring only to material or worldly riches. But I believe Jesus is teaching something much deeper—about our daily way of living.
Giving is not limited to money. It includes giving a smile to a neighbor, helping a friend—or even an enemy—offering your seat on a train, forgiving someone who has wronged you, or sharing your time and compassion. When Jesus teaches us to give, He is speaking about our entire life and attitude toward others.
What we give returns to us in different ways. When we show kindness, kindness finds its way back to us. When we forgive, we receive peace. When we help others, help comes to us—sometimes from unexpected places and in ways that overflow. This aligns with Galatians 6:9, which reminds us not to grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
And we must remember what kind of faith truly pleases God: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27)
