Why Jesus is GOD

The main question on social media today is, "Is Jesus Christ God?" Where did Jesus claim himself as GOD? He always prays to his Father, but he himself calls himself the Son of GOD. This question has existed for centuries, but it’s more relevant now because the younger generation likes to find the truth. Let's explore this together.

Clearly, we can rule out one thing about Jesus: He is not just a human because He himself said that. For example, in John 8:58, Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." Can a mere human exist before Abraham, who lived hundreds of years before? So, we can understand that Jesus is not a simple human being; He is above that. Another reason is Matthew 16:16, where Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

Now, let's check who the Messiah is, the claim Jesus agreed to Himself. Messiah comes from the Hebrew word, Mashiach, meaning "the anointed one" or "the chosen one." One of the most well-known prophecies about the birth of a divine Messiah is Isaiah 9:6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." And if we check the name of Jesus, it's Immanuel, meaning God with us, Matthew 1:23: "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. Is Jesus God? Let's see. We have many examples for this, but in the end, I will interpret my version of this. Let's see, just like us, His disciples also had doubts. He was always talking about the Father, and Philip asked the revealing question. In John 14:8-21, Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need." Jesus answered, "I have been with you a long time now. Do you still not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. So why do you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say to you don't come from me. The Father lives in me, and he is doing his own work." Here Jesus specifies one thing: that He (the Father) has been with them a long time.

Thomas, one of His disciples who didn't believe in His resurrection, called Jesus "my God" when He appeared to him. John 20:26-28: "Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, 'Peace be with you.' Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here and see my hands, and put out your hand and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.' Thomas answered him, 'My Lord and my God.'"

Another proof from Matthew is when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary worshipped Jesus. Matthew 28:9: "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him."

If that's the case, why can't it be so simple? Why is it so complicated to understand Jesus Christ? The answer is that He is God, and we are human. How can a finite, tiny brain like ours understand an Infinite, all-knowing God? It's impossible. All the confusion occurs when we try to limit our God in our thinking.

But we are humans; we always do that. So here is my interpretation. The main question is how can a God live with us. Because He is God, right? And how can He die? The answer to the question lies in the question itself. He is God, so He cannot come to us in His Godly form. So what He did was He sent His Son, who He is Himself, but not in Godly form. He limited Himself so that we are accessible to Him. Because even Moses himself couldn't get too near Him, so surely we can't even withstand His presence. So God limited Himself and became flesh. Why? Because He is an ever-loving God and His godly love we cannot understand. He loved us so much and He wanted us to Himself and didn’t want to destroy us. He sacrificed Himself for us and taught us how to pray, how to live, and He Himself was a perfect example for everything. He showed us how to pray to the Father because Jesus wanted this kind of relationship with us, and He taught us that.

I hope everyone understands this and finds the truth. John 8:31-32: "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, 'If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" And what is this truth? John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" As an ending, let's not forget the most significant revelation of Jesus as God. John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
